  • Dr. Darrel S. Brodke is the Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and holds the Jack and Hazel Robertson Presidential Endowed Professorship. He is a spine specialist focused on the improvement of pain and function for people with spinal disorders through both surgical and non-surgical treatments. He has particular expertise in the care of neck and back problems, including disc herniations, spinal stenosis, and degenerative conditions.

    Dr. Brodke's research interests have focused on spinal biomechanics, spinal deformity surgery treatments and patient reported outcomes. It is his aim to advance and improve care broadly through this work.

    Dr. Brodke received his MD degree at the ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓƵ of California, San Francisco, completed an Orthopaedic Residency at the ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓƵ of Wisconsin, and a Fellowship in Spine Surgery at the ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓƵ of Washington in Seattle. He joined the faculty of the ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓƵ of Utah in 1997.

    I don¿t as very happy with the care I received from Dr. Brodke. I travelled some distance to see him and for my surgery. He was timely in appointments, very pleasant to speak with and answered every question I had. I¿d highly recommend him.

    I had traveled 320 miles and 7 1/2 hours for this appointment, and spent 10 minutes with Dr Brodke's fellow and 10 minutes with Dr Brodke, which was disappointing.

    Dr Brodke is one of the most skilled su rgeons I have ever met , his caring for his patience¿s is unsurpassed and can talk to them in a way that is comfortable professional and understood. Dr Brodke has cared for me after a very severe vehicle accident and kept me from paralysis. His nurses work with the patient and confer an air of understanding and caring.
