  • Dr. Regina Rosenthal is a board-certified general surgeon practicing breast surgery at the ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓƵ of Utah’s Huntsman Cancer Institute. She has more than twenty years of experience in the surgical treatment of breast cancer. She has been an early advocate for the multidisciplinary approach to breast cancer, which helps tailor treatment plans to the goals and needs of individuals.

She earned her B.S. degree in biochemistry from The City College of New York and her M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓƵ, also in New York. She completed a residency in General Surgery at Boston ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓƵ Medical Center in Boston, with an additional fellowship year in oncology research. She is board-certified in General Surgery by the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Dr. Rosenthal has practiced in Salt Lake City since 1991. She practiced all aspects of General Surgery, including trauma and abdominal surgery, until around 2002, when she began to focus her practice on breast cancer. Her practice has been directed exclusively to treating breast cancer and benign breast disease since that time. She is recognized as an early proponent of the team approach to breast cancer care in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Rosenthal is able to offer a variety of surgical options depending on individual needs, including sentinel lymph node sampling, skin and nipple-sparing mastectomies, and the use of oncoplastic techniques to improve cosmetic results. She is prepared to incorporate reconstructive surgery approaches together with plastic surgeons as part of overall treatment plans. For many patients, more focused rather than more extensive surgery may be a good option. Cooperative presurgical planning with oncology and radiation oncology professionals can expand the range of choices available to individuals with breast cancer.

    HUNTSMAN CANCER CENTER

Dr. Rosenthal was very good to listen to my concerns in the direction my Cancer seems to be moving. She took time to explain things to me and we ran a few tests to get a better picture of my lump. Those tests will help us figure out which direction to go in my treatment.
