Huntsman Cancer Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of two of our colleagues as holders of prestigious endowed chairs at the (the U). Another colleague was awarded an esteemed fellowship, and two other distinguished endowed chairs have been renewed.
Endowed chairs recognize academic distinction, promote excellence, and provide funds for cutting-edge research. Fellowships train the most clinically competent physician with the goal of producing leaders in scientific and clinical research.
Amit Maity, MD, PhD
, has been awarded the Huntsman Cancer Institute Endowed Chair in Cancer Research. Maity is a radiation oncologist at Huntsman Cancer Institute and professor and chair of the at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the U.
"Dr. Maity's experience, skills, and cutting-edge research make him a national leader in radiation oncology and highly worthy of this honor," says CEO of Huntsman Cancer Institute and distinguished professor of biology and oncological sciences at the U. "He is an outstanding and highly efficient clinician renowned for his ability to design and test novel therapeutic strategies in treating patients with hematologic malignancies, and in the mentorship of medical trainees and junior faculty members."
Jonathan Tward, MD, PhD
Jonathan Tward, MD, PhD, is the inaugural recipient of the Vincent P. and Janet Mancini Presidential Endowed Chair at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Genitourinary Malignancies. Tward is the leader of the at Huntsman Cancer Institute and a tenured professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the U.
"Dr Tward is an incredibly talented and distinguished physician scientist," says Beckerle. "His contributions as a major authority in treating prostate, bladder and penile cancers have advanced our understanding and led to new therapeutic strategies. His discoveries will help save lives and reduce suffering."
Afaf Osman, MD
Afaf Osman, MD, is the inaugural recipient of the Dr. Emmy Knobloch Fellowship in Cancer Research. Osman is a hematologist at Huntsman Cancer Institute and recent graduate from the 人妻中出视频 of Chicago Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program.
"Dr. Osman is an exceptionally talented and distinguished scientist," says Beckerle. "Her research will benefit leukemia patients with myeloid malignancies by targeting disease onset and dissemination and finding more targeted and effective ways to treat them."
Jen Doherty, MS, PhD
, has been recognized with the renewal of the Huntsman Cancer Institute Endowed Chair in Cancer Research. Doherty is executive director of the and an associate professor in the at the U.
Neeraj Agarwal, MD
Neeraj Agarwal MD, has been honored with the renewal of the Huntsman Cancer Institute Presidential Endowed Chair in Cancer. Agarwal is the director of the and the Center for Investigational Therapeutics at Huntsman Cancer Institute and a professor of medicine at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the U.
